GrailQuest announcement

It’s happened at last! My GrailQuest game book series from the 1980s is going digital. Here’s the official announcement from Tin Man games...

Congratulations! I'm a Spanish fan, sincere admirer of his work, and I greatly welcome this news.Although here in Spain the gamebook ceased to be published many years ago, I have personally GrailQuest in the heart: I'm Pip more than 25 years, lol!Hopefully the books in the GrailQuest series return to publish in my country, because we are many fans and we feel a bit abandoned. In August of this year I visited Stonehenge (really is a magical place), it was inevitable to perceive the presence of Pip, as in the Realm of Chaos Book!Thank you very much for everything, Mr Brennan. You made my childhood a good place to live.

What a lovely thing to say. Thank you so much. I’m afraid there are no plans for a Spanish language GrailQuest app just yet, but my agent is working hard to find a suitable publisher so who knows...?

Good morning, Mr Brennan.
First of all, happy new year!Certainly, hopefully an editorial in Spain would like to re-edit your magnificent gamebooks.
Speaking of GrailQuest, I've been years wondering if there will be a ninth book in the series. That would really be excellent news! Would you dare to do that for your fans, Mr Brennan? And why not? Why not write from book 8 to book 15?Oh, by the way, sorry for my bad English. I am using a translator!

Hi José,

Belated New Year greetings to you as well. No plans for more GrailQuest either, I’m afraid. Back in the 80s, I’d have been happy to write them forever, but the publishers decided the days of gamebooks had passed and stopped publishing them any more (except later in a niche market.) Maybe the electronic versions will lead to a major revival.

This is unbelievable. I just discovered this blog and have so many things to say, it's exploding out of my brain and onto my keyboard. I'll summarize for clarity.

1) I live in Canada, was raised on solo gamebooks, and am of the opinion that GQ exists on a higher-evolved plane of reality. The style and wit, puzzles and creativity, the unforgettable characters... I just can't even. Masterpiece is a word that comes to mind, though it's not nearly effusive enough. The series even introduced and quasi-exposed 9 year old me to what has become a lifelong infatuation with Arthurian Legend. To say I am grateful is an understatement.

2) ~20 years after my 'GQ days' I was solo backpacking through Europe, and made a lengthy and expensive detour to Glastonbury to visit the Tor and the Abbey. What drove me? The events depicted in 'Realm of Chaos'. No joke Mr. Brennan. I was hiking up that hill, keeping an eye out for the Guardian Wyrm, and marveling at just how insane this all was.

3) This next bit is some kind of coincidence. One day last month while wasting time at work I sort of realized how much I missed my old babies. So I logged onto Amazon and re-acquired the entire GQ series. Then, last week, I actually found my original collection in my parent's crawlspace (bad shape, but still). So now I have two complete sets. THEN, just today, JUST NOW, I read that GQ is being given the Tin Man treatment! For serious!?

Hopefully you can sympathize a bit with how worked up I am. It's a wonder this comment isn't more rife with spelling mistaKGQPWL

GQ IS BACK! EVERYTHING IS HAPPENING!!!

Hey Dan,

Let you into a secret: I’m a bit excited too. Some of the guys at Tin Man were GrailQuesters in their youth as well, so there’s a very personal element to the whole project. I think it’s going to be good.

Take care,

Herbie

Hello Mr. Brennan,

Like previous comments have said I grew up with dungeons and dragons, choose your own adventure, solo game books and my beloved Commodore 64. I believe your GQ series to be the best of the game book series and I have fond memories of my vampire carrot friend ( hope I am remembering correctly, I am 40 after all). I came onto the net today to see if there is a market to sell my old books including GQ, FF, demo spawn, crossroads adventures, and various authors like David Eddings, Robert Jordan, and Stephen King. I was more than surprised to see the books being transformed into digital format and Iam very excited for my two year old son. Thanks for your hard work on these books.

The Vampire Carrot tells me he remembers you very well, Michael. As will I after your kind comments...

I'm really looking forward to this, I still remember them very fondly 30 years later, I'm praying that the idea doesn't get sent to section 14!

Seems tin man gor stuck, last update for grail quest app release was in feb 2016... any news? If they gave up it could be good to use the same system used for lone wolf apps
